Application — Growth

The Basic Essentials Beanie is your hero, and Buy One, Give One is your promise. The ads should carry both together.

Danilo Vicioso

Who I am

  • Former COO of Tabs. Built its creator program to 100M monthly social impressions, and the paid ad engine alongside it.
  • Founded Mainstreet, a consumer home-services platform: a team of 70, $25M raised (Greylock, Khosla, YC, Tim Ferriss). It failed.
  • Before that: Quintessential Ventures, an early seat at a high-growth startup, and entrepreneur-in-residence at Prehype.
  • I'm moving into growth specifically. The creative and top-of-funnel work is what I want to be doing every day.

What I noticed

  • Basic Essentials Beanie sits at $38.00 with $42.00 struck through, across 11 variants. A struck-through price on a core product is a ready-made hook for ad copy, and it is easy to test.
  • Your site carries 4.8 stars from 80,000+ reviews. That is strong proof, and a creator ad can open on it before any product detail appears.
  • Free shipping starts over $100, while a Basic Essentials Beanie costs $38.00. Bundling is the path to free shipping, so ads should sell a set, not one beanie.

What I built

What I'd do here

  • My KPI: scale ad spend, hold target CAC. Everything else follows from that, starting with the Basic Essentials Beanie.
  • Week to week: launching a bunch of different experiments, losers killed early. One variable per test, starting with the Buy One, Give One hook.
  • Creators: college students, sports fans, and gym-goers in FitKnit headbands, each filming their own take on the Basic Essentials Beanie.
  • Reporting so you never have to ask. Daily CAC. Weekly what we learned. Monthly cohort payback.
  • Event tracking I'd spec and work through with your team, from add-to-cart to bundle orders. That part isn't me.

Month one

Month one: weekly targets, proposed

Creator videos / week01428425670
Landing pages live135789
New ads / week121212–2012–202020

Creators come on two a week, reaching 10 live by week six. Each posts the same number of videos a week, so videos climb from 14 to 70. New ads (12 to 20) and landing pages (1 to 9) follow the creators. Proposed.

Creator videos a week = creators live × videos per creator. Week 1: 0 × 7 = 0; Week 2: 2 × 7 = 14; Week 3: 4 × 7 = 28; Week 4: 6 × 7 = 42; Week 5: 8 × 7 = 56; Week 6: 10 × 7 = 70.

How I'd start

  • Build a claims sheet from your own wording, so every creator brief uses the Buy One, Give One line exactly as written.
  • Pick the Basic Essentials Beanie as the first test product and brief the first two creators around it, one variable per test.

I haven't seen your ad account or your numbers; everything here comes from your public site. I have no experience in apparel.

I'd love to chat if this makes sense. Grab a time here.
