When you think of a superhero, what comes to mind? More often than not, people can identify an “everyday superhero” in their own life - someone who demonstrates courage, strength and grace in the face of difficulty.
Relating to superheroes can help children feel strong, brave and empowered. A child who encounters a superhero lights up with joy and admiration because those heroes are courageous in the face of difficulties.
This is the reason we dress as superheroes when we visit hospitals, using superhero capes to encourage children to keep fighting. This is also why we teamed up with Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes to bring a special superhero event to children and families staying at the hospital.
Olivia's extraordinary power is the ability to make people smile and laugh!
They began with a visit to the Crayola Factory, where Aiden made his own art creations and named his own crayon colors!
They also had tea and cake, and Queen Elsa named Dakota the “Honorary Princess of Arendelle!” That definitely put a big smile on Dakota’s face.
Lincoln said his favorite part of the tour was putting out “fires” by knocking down wooden flames with the hose!
The models we work with for our product and lifestyle images are storytellers and friends that are a part of this community! Everyone is either connected to LYM through their impact or how they have been impacted. Storytellers include children battling cancer, nurses, caregivers, family members, friends and people who would do anything to help others.

LYM was founded in 2012 in an entrepreneurship class at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota by two college students who wanted to start a business with a meaningful and positive impact.
In 2022, the company was sold to a private equity group.
Then, in 2025, one of the original founders, Zachary Quinn and his family bought back LYM, bringing it home to Minnesota as a small family business.
Zachary, one of the original founders, his wife Brooke and sons Jack and George own and operate LYM. Through lots of support from their extended family, friends, LYM partners and employees and this community, all this is possible again.
Existing LYM beanies in the Classics and Essentials Collections have been made all over the country and overseas. A large quantity of them were made in Mendota Heights, MN, Portland, OR, New York, NY or Shanghai, China. See product pages for details on where each beanie comes from. For new products LYM is starting to bring back U.S. manufacturing through finishing products in Minneapolis, Minnesota and ordering new colors of beanies produced in Portland, Oregon and New York, NY.
Build Your Own Beanie is about how you customize your own beanie! Each beanie is unique to you and you should be able to customize it however you like. Starting with an Essentials beanie with a unique bright blue fold over label or a Classics beanie with a leather patch, cuffed or beanie style. Then you can add your Pom, embroidered patches and charms.
Build Your Own Beanie starts at $35 and Poms and Add-Ons range from $5-10 each.

This black LYM Essentials beanie features an MVC Alumni embroidered patch, heat pressed onto the beanie, along with a LYM Essentials blue fold over tag sewn onto the cuff. Included with the beanie is a Large Love Your Melon Beanie Wash Bag to protect the patches when washed.

To make sure your product lasts as long as the love behind it, follow the instructions below for washing, drying, and storage.

Tumble dry on high heat
Our beanies are One Size Fits Most and will stretch to fit your head as you wear them. When you machine wash it and tumble dry on high, your beanie will go back to its original size. Use our beanie wash bags to protect your beanie in the wash process. Make sure to remove any poms before washing. If you have issues, email care@lym.com.
Our standard beanies and Essentials Collection beanies (when uncuffed) are designed to be slouchy in fit. You can adjust the size by tucking the back of a beanie into itself, creating folds. For Essentials beanies, you can roll up the cuff once or more times to your desired preference.
Wash poms by hand only. Hand wash gently with cold water. Lay flat to dry. Shake lightly to refluff the pom.
Our beanies are made from either 99% cotton / 1% LYCRA or 100% cotton unless otherwise specified, depending on the style, color and where it was finished. Beanies range from 8 inches to 9 inches wide.

Your order can be cancelled if it has not been processed and shipped. All cancellations are final and we cannot guarantee your desired items will be available when you place another order.

Our beanies are made primarily with cotton, a biodegradable fiber that breaks down much faster than synthetic materials. We also use recycled plastic in our shipping materials and remain committed to producing products and packaging that are better for the environment.
